Baboons, installation,2016
The word "Baboon" is used as a derogatory term for people who do not follow social or cultural codes, and to describe those who engage in mob mentality, who do not exercise their own judgement, who have no tolerance for opinions other than their own, and who are unable to accept abnormal behaviors. Nevertheless, the actual baboon is such an altruistic and clever primate. This work examines the connection and tension between these different meanings.
The installation, was exhibited on "Salon Miriam" at Dizingof street, as part of an art exhibition in display windows- "Rehov Lovesh Omanot".
This baboon was sculptured, using the sculptural crochet technique, its body was crocheted out of raw wool, the head was created by using various textile materials, fibers and yarn.
